Abstract of the Disclosure An anti-perspirant kit consists of an applicator for applying to the skin a fluid anti-perspirant composition containing AlCl3 and/or ZrCl4, together with an anhydrous fluid that is a physiologically tolerable basic buffer capable of neutralizing any acid developed from the AlCl3 and/or ZrCl4. The basic buffer may be an amine with a molecular weight below about 1000 in an anhydrous solvent therefor. The basic buffer may be a solution of 10-100%, preferably 20-75%, especially 20-50% of triethanolamine in an anhydrous solvent. The invention also embraces an applicator for applying such a basic buffer to the skin, and a method of controlling perspiration employing such anti-perspirant and buffer fluid compositions.
