A series of bridged bicyclic imides having a 4-[4-(3- benzisothiazolyl)-1-piperazinyl]butyl group attached to the imide nitrogen are useful antipsychotic agents. The bridged bicyclic imides have the formula: (see fig.I) (wherein R1 and R2 are H, methyl or ethyl; X is -CH2-, -CH2CH2- or -CH2CH2CH2-; and Y is CR3R4 [R3 and R4 are H or methyl]).
