A method of treating primary and recurrent atheromatous plaque development is provided. The method involves administering a therapeutically effective amount of SERP-I, admixed in a pharmaceutically acceptable carrier to the intimal or lumenal layer of arterial walls. Biologically active SERP-I analogs are also provided.
L'invention concerne une méthode de traitement de la formation de plaques athéromateuses primaire ou récurrente. Le traitement consiste à appliquer une quantité de SERP-1 (inhibiteur de la résine protéase) suffisante pour avoir un effet thérapeutique, en mélange avec un excipient acceptable sur le plan pharmaceutique, sur l'intima ou la média de la paroi artérielle. L'invention concerne également les analogues biologiquement actifs de la SERP-1.
