The present invention relates to antisense oligonucleotide compounds for use in modulating the function of nucleic acid molecules encoding mammalian MMP- 12. More specifically, the invention provides compounds of 8 to 50 nucleobases in length capable of specifically hybridising with nucleic acid molecules encoding MMP-12 and thereby inhibiting the expression of the MMP-12 protein product, as well as pharmaceutical compositions thereof and methods of its use. The antisense oligonecleotide compounds are used for treating diseases such as inflammatory bowel disease, rheumatoid arthritis, psoriasis, emphysema and asthma.
La présente invention a trait à des composés d'oligonucléotides antisens destinés à être utilisés dans la modulation de la fonction de molécules d'acide nucléique codant pour la métalloprotéinase matricielle-12 (MMP-12). De manière plus spécifique, l'invention a trait à des composés présentant une longueur de 8 à 50 nucléobases capables d'hybridation spécifique avec des molécules d'acide nucléique codant pour le MMP-12, permettant ainsi l'inhibition du produit de la protéine de la MMP-12, ainsi que des compositions pharmaceutiques en contenant et son procédé d'utilisation. Les composés d'oligonucléotides antisens sont utilisés pour le traitement de maladies telles que la maladie intestinale inflammatoire, la polyarthrite rhumatoïde, le psoriasis, l'emphysème et l'asthme.
