ABSTRACT At least one antistatic agent is incorporated into a thermoplastic polymer by contacting a polyvinyl chloride polymer with a solution comprising a solvent capable of swelling the PVC surface and at least one antistatic agent selected from the group consisting of 1-dodecylpyridinium chloride monohydrate and (R1)n(R2)m ammonium halide, wherein n and m are integers of from 0-4 and n+m = 4, and wherein R1 and R2 can be different or the same and are alkyl groups of from 1 to 20 carbon atoms.
