The present invention relates to a method of treating a viral infection in an animal, such as a human, by administering to the amimal a therapeutically effective amount of a polymer comprising a plurality of pendant hydrophobic groups and a plurality of pendant acid functional groups. The acid functional groups are connected directly to the polymer backbone or via an aliphatic spacer group of 1 to about 20 atoms in length.

L'invention concerne un procédé relatif au traitement d'une infection virale chez un animal (par exemple, chez l'homme), qui consiste à administrer une quantité thérapeutiquement efficace de polymère renfermant une pluralité de groupes hydrophobes latéraux et une pluralité de groupes acide fonctionnels latéraux. Les groupes acide fonctionnels sont rattachés directement au squelette du polymère, ou bien ils sont reliés au squelette de ce polymère par le biais d'un groupe aliphatique intercalaire ayant une longueur comprise entre 1 et 20 atomes environ.
