Disclosed is an aperture held clip type fastener comprising an aperture insertion and locking mechanism with arcuate lever arms connected to the aperture insertion and locking mechanism. The arcuate lever arms are each flexible at a flex point, and side lever arms and side wall are in connection with the arcuate lever arms. Protrusion fingers are in connection with the arcuate lever arms via the side lever arms and side wall. A seating surface is provided for receiving a gripped item, the side wall, seating surface, and protrusion fingers being arranged and constructed to form a gripped item void. An item to be gripped is insertable into the fastener while in the preinstalled state, the arcuate lever arms flexing at the flex points upon insertion of the aperture insertion and locking mechanism into an aperture of a panel. The arcuate lever arms act through the side lever arms and the side wall to position the protrusion fingers adjacent the gripped item, holding it in semi-permanent position.
