ABSTRACT The invention is directed to the making of a casing or a pipe having a large, substantially, flat exterior area, interior corrugations and an interior seam. There is disclosed an apparatus and method whereby a material in sheet form is processed and formed into a form sheet having a large percentage of its exterior surface as flat, corrugations and side flanges. Then, the form sheet is made into a spiral whereby a seam is formed between adjacent courses so as to make the corrugated casing or corrugated pipe. The corrugated casing is used to protect insul- ation around a smaller pipe. The smaller pipe is used for conveying or transporting a fluid such as liquid petroleum. There is placed around the smaller pipe insulation and to protect the insulation there is placed around the insulation the corrugated casing or corru- gated pipe.
