This present invention provides apparatus and methods for the activation of an energized ophthalmic lens. In some embodiments, the present invention provides for activation and deactivation of one or more components via wireless communication with an activation unit (220) external to the ophthalmic lens (200). In some embodiments, an energized ophthalmic lens contains components which detect external signals, process the detected signal and activate components that change optical characteristics via the control of electrical energy.

Dans certains modes de réalisation, la présente invention concerne l'activation et la désactivation d'un ou plusieurs composants par une communication sans fil avec une unité d'activation extérieure à la lentille ophtalmique. Dans d'autres modes de réalisation, une lentille ophtalmique alimentée électriquement contient des composants qui détectent des signaux externes, traitent les signaux détectés et activent des composants qui modifient les caractéristiques optiques en contrôlant l'énergie électrique.
