An inserter for deploying an anchor in an undercut hole for securing a suture or other cord-like element to a bone or other workpiece. The inserter utilizes a drive rod in telescoping relationship with a sleeve to drive the anchor into a receiving undercut hole. Prior to deployment, the anchor is received and maintained in a cavity formed by the retracted drive rod within the sleeve. The inserter may be applied in both the orthopedic and plastic medical arts.
