An apparatus (10) that comprises a body (12) including a reservoir (16) adapted for receiving a quantity of fluid and a plurality of fluid distribution channels (18) each having a length and a cross-sectional area and being in fluid communication with and extending from the reservoir (16) from a first end and terminating at a second, distal end in an orifice. The apparatus (10) further comprises a distribution chamber (22) in the body for commonly receiving the fluid exiting each of the orifices, for merging the fluid exiting each of the orifices into at least one continuous coating stream, and for equalizing the pressure of the fluid, the distribution chamber (22) having a first side in fluid communication with the plurality of fluid distribution channels (18) and a second side that is open to allow the fluid to exit the body for uniform distribution onto the web. In addition, the apparatus comprises a smoothing surface on the body adjacent the second side of the distribution chamber (22) to smooth the fluid on the moving web as the fluid exits the second side of the distribution chamber and is deposited on the moving web and a fluid supply means for supplying fluid to the reservoir (16) and for maintaining the fluid under pressure in the reservoir, whereby the fluid moves under pressure from the reservoir through the fluid distribution channels to the first side of the distribution chamber, through the distribution chamber to exit the second side of the distribution chamber, and onto the moving web.
Dispositif (10) comprenant un corps (12) qui comporte un réservoir (16) conçu pour recevoir une quantité de fluide, et une pluralité de canaux (18) de distribution de fluide qui présentent une longueur et une superficie de section, et qui sont en communication fluidique avec le réservoir (16). Les canaux de distribution partent du réservoir au niveau d'une première extrémité et se terminent au niveau d'une seconde extrémité distale par un orifice. Le dispositif (10) comporte également une chambre de distribution (22) disposée à l'intérieur du corps et conçue pour recevoir ensemble le fluide sortant des deux orifices, pour mélanger ledit fluide de façon à former au moins un flux de revêtement continu, et pour égaliser la pression du fluide. La chambre de distribution (22) comporte un premier côté en communication fluidique avec la pluralité de canaux (18) de distribution de fluide et un second côté ouvert de façon à permettre au fluide de sortir du corps pour être distribué uniformément sur la bande. Le dispositif comprend en outre, au niveau du corps, une surface de lissage adjacente au second côté de la chambre de distribution (22), lequel lisse le fluide sur la bande en mouvement lorsqu'il sort du second côté de la chambre de distribution et est déposé sur la bande, ainsi qu'un système d'alimentation en fluide qui amène le fluide au réservoir (16) et le maintient sous pression dans ledit réservoir. Ainsi, le fluide se déplace sous pression depuis le réservoir par les canaux de distribution jusqu'au premier côté de la chambre de distribution, la traverse et sort par son second côté pour recouvrir la bande de matière en mouvement.
