20. ABSTRACT A device and method for automatically removing fingernail polish from one or more fingernails at a time is described. In a preferred embodiment, the device has a rotating brush 22 with soft bristles 24 contained in a compartment 18 having fingernail polish removing fluid 30. The fingers from which fingernail polish is to be removed are placed through an opening 26 near the top of the compartment 18 so that the fingernails press against the bristles 24 of the brush 22. The brush 22, rotated by an electric motor 68, brushes the fingernail polish removing fluid 30 against the fingernails and removes the fingernail polish. Fluid 30 is kept within the compartment 18 by means of a flexible diaphragm 38 over the opening 26 having slits 40 therein for the fingers.
