A system for conducting an optical inspection of a biological, chemical, or biochemical sample supported by an optical transparent disc, adapting a technology which has been developed in the field of audio and video compact discs to scan surfaces. The disc (44) is mounted for rotation about its central axis whilst a light source (37) and detector (38) are mounted on an arm (36) for rotation in an arc crossing the surface of the disc. The source (37) is arranged above the disc (44) and the detector (38) below the disc with the optical axes of the two being aligned so that the entire useable surface of disc (44) can be scanned by the light source and detector. The disc (44) is provided with a calibration marking (49) which interrupts the passage of the light beam when the beam passes over it, thus allowing the scan to be aligned relative to the disc. The optical properties of the sample supported on the substrate can be automatically and rapidly inspected by analysing the output of the light detector (38).
Procédé de conduite d'un examen optique d'un échantillon biologique, chimique ou biochimique, supporté par un disque optique transparent, consistant à adapter la technologie de balayage des surfaces mise au point dans le domaine des disques compacts audio et vidéo. Le disque (44) est monté aux fins de rotation autour d'un axe central tandis qu'une source lumineuse (37) et un détecteur (38) sont montés sur un bras (36) afin de tourner dans un arc traversant la surface du disque. La source (37) est disposée au-dessus du disque (44) et le détecteur (38) est placé sous le disque, les axes optiques de ces deux dispositifs étant alignés de manière à ce que l'entière surface utilisable du disque (44) puisse être balayée par la source lumineuse et par le détecteur. Le disque (44) est pourvu d'une marque (49) de calibrage qui interrompt le passage du faisceau lumineux lorsque celui-ci passe sur le disque, permettant ainsi d'aligner le balayage par rapport au disque. Les propriétés optiques de l'échantillon supporté sur le substrat peuvent être inspectées automatiquement et rapidement par analyse de la valeur de sortie du détecteur (38) de lumière.
