Apparatus for converting a local POTS network to VoIP capability includes a signal controller that is adapted for connection between a broadband-enhanced POTS service point and the local network for reducing POTS signaling. The apparatus is, for example, a high pass filter that includes a first port for receiving broadband-enhanced POTS service and a second port for sending DSL signals to the local network. The high pass filter can be connected to broadband-enhanced POTS service at a Network Interface Unit of a DSL subscriber location. Preferably, the high pass filter has a frequency response range that is capable of greatly reducing or eliminating a POTS service loop voltage and/or baseband voice signals on the local network.

L'invention concerne un dispositif permettant de convertir un réseau de service téléphonique traditionnel (POTS) à une capacité de fonctionnement VoIP, qui comprend un contrôleur de signaux adapté à une connexion entre un point de service POTS à large bande renforcée et le réseau local, pour réduire la signalisation POTS. Ledit dispositif est par exemple un filtre passe-haut qui comprend un premier port pour recevoir le service POTS à large bande renforcée et un second port pour envoyer des signaux DSL au réseau local. Le filtre passe-haut peut être connecté au service POTS à large bande renforcée au niveau d'une unité d'interface réseau d'un emplacement d'abonné DSL. Le filtre passe-haut présente de préférence une plage de réponse en fréquence apte à réduire grandement ou à éliminer une tension de boucle de service POTS et/ou des signaux vocaux de bande de base sur le réseau local.
