A method and apparatus for crimping sausage links and ends are described. The apparatus consists of two spaced crimping devices (1), each crimping device having a pair of crimping arms (3, 4) with each of said crimping arms (3, 4) having a pair of inwardly directed crimping fingers (9, 10). The crimping fingers (9, 10) have inner surfaces (11, 15, 16, 17) which, in a first position, when the arms are separated, define a passageway through the device for receiving and supporting the filler casing. The apparatus includes fillers (5, 6) coupled to each of the pair of arms which are coupled to actuating mechanisms which act on both pairs of arms substantially simultaneously to urge the arms (3, 4) towards each other to close the passageway and crimp the filler casing and at the same time the passageways of the adjacent crimping devices are displaced radially inwards causing the filler casing between the arms to be shortened axially in length as it is being crimped.

L'invention se rapporte à un procédé et à un appareil pour ligaturer des chapelets et des extrémités de saucisses. L'appareil se compose de deux dispositifs de ligature espacés (1), comportant chacun des bras de ligature (3, 4) pourvus chacun d'une paire de doigts de ligature (9, 10) dirigés vers l'intérieur. Les doigts de ligature (9, 10) présentent des surfaces internes (11, 15, 16, 17) qui, dans une première position, lorsque les bras sont écartés, forment un passage dans le dispositif pour la réception et le support du boyau de remplissage. L'appareil comporte des entonnoirs (5, 6) raccordés chacun à la paire de bras, elle-même couplée à des mécanismes d'actionnement qui agissent pratiquement simultanément sur les deux paires de bras afin de les (3, 4) pousser l'un vers l'autre pour fermer le passage et ligaturer le boyau. En même temps, les passages des dispositifs de ligature adjacents sont déplacés radialement vers l'intérieur, ce qui a pour effet de raccourcir axialement le boyau de remplissage se trouvant entre les bras au momennt où il est ligaturé.
