The invention provides for a timesaving method of determining the capacity of a nickel cadmium (NiCd) (22). A fully charged NiCd battery (22) under test is subjected to a positive sloped current charge ramp (42) and then a negative sloped current charge ramp (46) while continuously monitoring the battery terminal voltage. The voltage is plotted and the maximum slope of the measure terminal voltage determines Igas. The value of Igas is compared to a temperature calibration curve to determine the capacity of the battery (22) under test.

La présente invention concerne une procédé de détermination de la capacité d'une batterie au nickel-cadmium (NiCd) (22) permettant une économie de temps. Une batterie au NiCd complètement chargée est soumise à une rampe de charge de courant à pente positive (42), puis à une rampe de charge de courant à pente négative (46) tout en contrôlant, de manière continue, la tension aux bornes de la batterie. La tension est tracée et la pente maximale de la tension aux bornes mesurée détermine I¿gaz?. La valeur de I¿gaz? est comparée à une courbe de d'étalonnage de température afin de déterminer la capacité de la batterie (22) en test.
