An improved laparoscopic apparatus (10) for tunneling to a desired anatomical location and developing a surgical space, is disclosed, including a tunelling member (20) adapted to receive a laparoscope therein, and an inflatable balloon (40) secured on the tunneling member (20). The tunneling member (20) has a passage (28) extending between its open proximal (24) and distal ends (26). A lip (30) is integrally formed on the distal end (26) to retain a laparoscope inserted into the passage (28), the lip (30) having a substantially rounded and blunt distal edge (34). The lip (30) defines a recessed or open center area (36) in the distal opening (32), enhancing the field of view of the laparoscope therethrough. The balloon (40) is formed from flexible, transparent material, and is rolled and secured to the tunelling member (20). The balloon (40) includes inverted seams (56) and/or unfused outer edges (54) adapted to minimize tissue trauma during inflation, and has an extended distal portion adapted to be unrolled during space development, thereby improving distal space development and enhancing visualisation of landmarks within the space being developed.
Dispositif endoscopique amélioré (10) servant à progresser en direction d'un emplacement anatomique souhaité et à créer un espace chirurgical, et comprenant un élément de progression (20) conçu pour recevoir un endoscope, ainsi qu'un ballonnet gonflable (40) fixé sur l'élément de progression (20). Ce dernier comporte un passage (28) s'étendant entre ses extrémités ouvertes proximale (24) et distale (26). Une lèvre (30) est située sur l'extrémité distale (26) et solidaire de celle-ci, de manière à retenir l'endoscope introduit dans le passage (28), et possède un bord distal (34) pratiquement arrondi et émoussé. Cette lèvre (30) définit une zone centrale (36) évidée ou ouverte dans l'extrémité distale (32), ce qui amplifie le champ de vision de l'endoscope. Le ballonnet (40) est constitué par un matériau souple transparent et est enroulé et fixé à l'élément de progression (20). Ce ballonnet (40) comporte, soit des coutures inversées (56), soit des bords extérieurs (54) non joints par fusion, conçus pour limiter au minimum le traumatisme des tissus pendant le gonflage et possède une partie distale étendue conçue pour être déroulée pendant la création de l'espace, ce qui améliore la création d'un espace distal et optimise la visualisation de repères à l'intérieur de l'espace en cours de création.
