Abstract of Disclosure A method is disclosed for forming a web and/or dewarting a web in a paper or cardboard machine. The web is formed on a fabric and/or a band which acts as a machine element conveying the web forward and carrying it. The web is conveyed and supported on a given run of the closed loop of the process band , and simul- taneously a substantial amount of water is drained from the pulp suspension layer and/or the web introduced on the outer surface of the process band by bringing it by means of a microporous, water-saturated water suction surface on the process band into hydraulic contact with water under the vacuum prevailing in the interior of the process band. In addition, an apparatus disclosed in which the process band is provided with a micro- porous water suction surface or with such surfaces. The interior of the process band is placed under a pressure lower than the pressure acting on the outer surface of the paper web or of the pulp suspension. In the means, the pulp suspension layer or web is brought into contact with the outer surface of the process band loop provided with a water suction surface.
