The present invention provides an optical system operable in eliminating parallax distortion in a captured image. Specifically, the apparatus eliminates parallax distortion in a palm print image. The apparatus includes a prism having a receiving surface and an object surface. A palm is placed on the receiving surface and a light illuminates the receiving surface so that an image representative of the palm is propagated from the object surface. The propagated image includes a plurality of segments. A lens selectively magnifies each of the segments by a different amount, as to create a plurality of magnified segments of equal length. A image recording medium then captures the magnified segments. The invention also provides a cylindrical device operable in capturing the image of the palm, where the palm may be rolled across a transparent cylinder and reflected light is captured by a recording medium representative of the palm print.
L'invention porte sur un système optique servant à éliminer les distorsions dues au parallaxe dans une image saisie et plus spécifiquement dans une image de l'empreinte de la paume de la main. L'appareil contient un prisme présentant une surface réceptrice et une surface objet. La paume est placée sur la surface réceptrice tandis qu'une lumière éclaire ladite surface de manière à ce que l'image de la paume soit diffusée par la surface objet. L'image diffusée comporte de multiples segments. Une lentille agrandit sélectivement chacun des segments selon un rapport différents de manière à créer un ensemble de segments agrandis de même longueur. Un support d'enregistrement de l'image saisit alors les segments agrandis. L'invention porte également sur un dispositif cylindrique servant à saisir l'image de la paume, laquelle paume peut rouler sur un cylindre transparent tandis que la lumière réfléchie est saisie sur un support d'enregistrement représentatif de l'empreinte de la paume.
