A die apparatus (20) and method for forging a workpiece into a near net shaped gear (90), and includes a first die (22) having a tooth die (26) with a near net shaped negative cavity configured therein to forge the near net shaped gear (90). Also, the apparatus includes an axial restriction member (99, 199) that sufficiently reduces axial movement of the forged gear (90) as tooth die (26) moves away from the first die (22) relative to the second die (80). This axial resistance member (99, 199) enables the head portion (92) of the gear (90) to be removed from the first die (22), and more specifically, the tooth die (26), after the forging portion of stroke is completed.
L'invention concerne un dispositif à matrices (20) et un procédé permettant de forger une pièce pour la transformer en un pignon (90) presque à la cote désirée. Ledit dispositif comprend une première matrice (22) pourvue d'une matrice à denture (26) présentant une cavité correspondant, en négatif, au pignon presque à la cote désirée, formée dans ladite matrice à denture pour forger le pignon (90) presque à la cote désirée. Le dispositif présenté comporte également un élément (99, 199) créant une résistance axiale qui réduit suffisamment le déplacement axial du pignon (90) forgé lorsque la matrice à denture (26) s'écarte de la première matrice (22), par rapport à la seconde matrice (80). Cet élément (99, 199) de résistance axiale permet à la tête (92) du pignon (90) d'être retirée de la première matrice (22), et plus spécifiquement de la matrice à denture (26), lorsque la partie forgeage de la course de la presse est terminée.
