Apparatus for forming a window (250) or the outline of a window in the casing (201) of a wellbore comprises an explosive (220) and locating means for positioning the explosive in the casing (201). The explosive (220) is shaped, sized and disposed so that, on detonation it forms a window (250) (or the outline of a window) in the casing. The window (250) preferably comprises an elongate slot which can subsequently be milled. In this case the elongate slot can inhibit or prevent coring of the mill.
L'invention concerne un appareil pour former une fenêtre (250) ou l'ébauche d'une fenêtre dans le tubage (201) d'un forage. Cet appareil comprend un explosif (220) et des moyens de positionnement pour positionner l'explosif dans le tubage (201). L'explosif (220) est formé, dimensionné et disposé de telle sorte que, lors de sa détonation, il forme une fenêtre (250) (ou l'ébauche d'une fenêtre) dans le tubage. De préférence, la fenêtre (250) comprend une fente allongée qui peut ensuite être fraisée. Dans ce cas, la fente allongée peut inhiber ou empêcher le déplacement central de la fraise.
