A method and apparatus for forming a fibre reinforced composite structure comprising at least two components (10, 12), a hard base tool (11) presenting a first tool face, a second tooling element (15) presenting a second tool face to locate the second component (12) against the first component (10). Components (10, 12) are of a dry fibrous form and are to be injected with a liquid resin. A flexible bagging blanket forms with the tools (11, 15) a sealed enclosure into which the resin is injected to form the structure by resin transfer infusion. To maintain the relative dispositions of the components (10, 12) without the need for elaborate mandrel plates, control rods (23) are inserted at least partially through the two components to act as fasteners and to maintain the relative disposition of the components during resin injection. After injection the assembly is cured and the control rods may remain in situ or be removed from the structure.
L'invention porte sur un procédé et un appareil pour former une structure composite renforcée par des fibres, comprenant au moins deux composants (10, 12), un outil de base dur (11) présentant une première face d'outil, un second élément d'outillage (15) présentant une seconde face d'outil pour positionner le second composant (12) à l'encontre du premier composant (10). Les composants (10, 12) sont d'une forme fibreuse sèche et doivent être injectés avec une résine liquide. Une couverture d'ensachage flexible forme avec les outils (11, 15) une enceinte scellée dans laquelle la résine est injectée pour former la structure par infusion de transfert de résine. Pour maintenir les dispositions relatives des composants (10, 12) sans nécessiter d'élaborer des plaques de mandrin, des tiges de commande (23) sont introduites au moins partiellement à travers les deux composants pour servir d'organes de fixation et pour maintenir la disposition relative des composants pendant l'injection de résine. Après l'injection, l'ensemble est durci et les tiges de commande peuvent rester in situ ou être retirées de la structure.
