AN APPARATUS AND METHOD FOR GENERATING EFFICENTLY EXECUTABLE CODE REPRESENTATIVE OF A BLOCK DIAGRAM ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE Each block of a block diagram corresponds to a soft- ware procedure for performing at least one function and the block comprises at least one input and at least one output. The blocks have interconnections between the inputs and out- puts for forming the block diagram. The executable code is assembled by ordering the procedures in accordance with penal- ties associated with each procedure, so that the procedures having the smallest penalties are executed prior to the proce- dures having larger penalties.
