ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE An apparatus and method for producing foam from ingredients comprising air, water, surfactant and optionally a binder such as oil, polymers and/or lignin which are passed through the apparatus under pressure. The apparatus comprises a conduit having an inlet and an outlet, a generally spherical, hollow packing material which is randomly packed within the conduit to aid in producing the foam and at least one connector to connect either end of the conduit to a device. In another embodiment, the apparatus comprises a mixer to mix the in- gredients to produce a mixture thereof, a pressurizing means provide the ingredients to the device under pressure, a conduit comprising an inlet and an outlet, so that the mixer is connected to the inlet, a generally spherical, hollow packing material randomly packed within the conduit to aid in producing the foam by the passage of the ingredients therethrough and a connector to connect the inlet to the mixer. The method comprises the steps of providing the apparatus and ingredients and passing the ingredients through the apparatus to produce foam.
