Abstract: An improved tire building and tire transfer apparatus and method includes a pivotally mounted transfer ring. After picking up an uncured tire band from its building drum and transferring the tire band to a position away from the building drum, the transfer ring is capable of pivoting about a vertical axis to rotate the tire band. In the rotated position, the tire band can be transferred to a tire support arm and carried away from the transfer ring.
