An apparatus and method for texture heat-setting bulk continuous filament (BCF) yarns in hot air heat-setting machines that includes a preheating device/step that in the processing of BCF yarns. The apparatus and method use a mixture of steam and atmospheric air to preheat a twisted BCF yarn bundle to develop crimp memory and provide cohesion to the twisted BCF yarn bundle. Yarn bundle cohesion during texture heat-setting helps to avoid frequent breaks at the winder of the hot air heat-setting machine. The addition of the preheating device/step significantly improves the ability of hot air heat-setting machines to maintain continuous operation during texture setting of BCF yarns and makes the hot air heat-setting method commercially viable for this application.

Dispositif et procédé de thermofixage de texture pour fils en filament continu gonflant (BCF) dans des machines de thermofixage à air chaud avec dispositif/opération de préchauffage. Le dispositif et le procédé font appel à un mélange de vapeur et d'air atmosphérique pour le préchauffage d'un faisceau de fils BCF retors dans le but de créer une mémoire de frisure et de conférer la cohésion requise au faisceau de fils BCF retors. La cohésion du faisceau de fils pendant le thermofixage de texture contribue à éviter des ruptures fréquentes au niveau du bobinoir de la machine de thermofixage à air chaud. L'adjonction d'un dispositif/d'une opération de préchauffage permet d'améliorer sensiblement la capacité de la machine de thermofixage à air chaud de fonctionner sans interruption pendant le formage de texture de fils BCF et rend le procédé de thermofixage à air chaud commercialement viable pour cette application.
