An hydraulic treatment apparatus (10) and method is provided for finishing and upgrading the quality of filament cloth materials. The fabric (12) is supported on a member (52, 54) and impacted with a uniform, high density jet, fluid curtain (34, 70) under controlled process energies. Low pressure/low energy treatments spread filaments in the fabric to reduce air porosity and provide improved uniformity in material finish. High pressure and energy treatments increase fabric bulk and porosity. Fluid treated fabrics of the invention demonstrate substantial improvement in at least two of uniformity, cover, opacity, increased or decreased bulk, increased or decreased air permeability, abrasion resistance, tensile strength, edge fray, and seam slippage.
L'invention se rapporte à un appareil de traitement hydraulique (10) et à un procédé visant à réaliser la finition et à améliorer la qualité de produits textiles à base de filaments. Le tissu (12) est supporté sur un élément (52, 54) et subit l'impact d'un rideau de fluide (34, 70), uniforme, se présentant sous forme de jets de haute densité, sous l'effet d'énergies de traitement régulées. Des traitements à basse pression/faible énergie étalent les filaments dans le tissu afin de réduire la porosité à l'air et d'obtenir une meilleure uniformité dans la finition du tissu. Des traitements à haute pression/haute énergie augmentent le volume et la porosité du tissu. Les tissus ayant subi un traitement hydraulique présentent une nette amélioration portant sur au moins deux caractéristiques, à savoir: uniformité, couverture, opacité, volume augmenté ou réduit, perméabilité à l'air augmentée ou réduite, résistance à l'abrasion, résistance à la traction, effilochage et glissement de couture.
