An apparatus for implanting one or more optical fibers in a panel having a uniform planar surfaces is comprised of a frame for supporting a fiber inserter above a fiber insertion table which fiber inserter carries the optical fiber downward to the fiber insertion table piercing the interposed panel at a desired point of insertion and carrying the optical fiber to the underside of the panel through an opening in the fiber insertion table. Adhesive is applied surrounding both tip of the optical fiber on the underside of the panel and surrounding the optical fiber on the top side of the panel. Exposure to a curing mechanism causes a change of state of the adhesive resulting in the permanent adherence of the optical fiber to both sides of the panel at the point of insertion.

L'invention concerne un dispositif pour l'implantation d'une ou de plusieurs fibres (30) optiques dans un panneau (54) à surface plane uniforme. Le dispositif selon l'invention comprend un cadre soutenant une inséreuse de fibres au-dessus d'une table (16) d'insertion de fibres. L'inséreuse de fibres fait descendre la fibre optique vers la table (16) d'insertion de fibres, transperce le panneau intercalé à un point d'insertion désiré et fait passer la fibre optique sur la face inférieure du panneau par une ouverture dans la table (16) d'insertion de fibres. Un adhésif est appliqué à la fois sur l'extrémité de la fibre (30) optique sur la face inférieure du panneau (54) et sur la fibre (30) optique sur la face supérieure du panneau (54).
