An instrument for measuring gravitational acceleration from within a borehole, the instrument including: a light source having a semiconductor that comprises a bandgap greater than about two electron volts (eV); and a gravimeter for receiving light from the light source and providing output light with a characteristic related to the gravitational acceleration, the gravimeter implemented at least one of a nano electro- mechanical system (NEMS) and a micro electro-mechanical system (MEMS); wherein the light source and the gravimeter are disposed in a housing adapted for insertion into the borehole.

L'invention concerne un instrument destiné à mesurer l'accélération gravitationnelle de l'intérieur d'un puits de forage, cet instrument comprenant: une source lumineuse possédant un semiconducteur qui comprend une largeur de bande interdite supérieure à environ deux électronvolts (eV); et un gravimètre destiné à recevoir la lumière de la source lumineuse et produisant la lumière de sortie avec une caractéristique relative à l'accélération gravitationnelle, le gravimètre mettant en oeuvre au moins un système nanoélectroméchanique (NEMS) et un système microélectroméchanique (MEMS); la source lumineuse et le gravimètre étant disposés dans un logement conçu pour être inseré dans un puits de forage.
