An aqua-ammonia absorption heating and/or cooling apparatus uses a thermostatic expansion valve (TXV) (40) and a temperature-sensing bulb (23) for controlling refrigerant flow to the evaporator (20). The valve having a movable member (52) responsive to bulb pressure for operating the valve, and wherein the temperature sensing bulb (23) is located above the moveable member (52).
