This invention relates to an apparatus and method for measuring the static charge developed by a flowable solid as it passes through a conduit. A flowable solid (for example, a metallocene catalyst) is conveyed through a conduit in such a manner that the powder develops a static charge due to the triboelectric effect as it moves against the conduit walls. The static charge on the solid is then measured using a static charge measuring device such as a Faraday drum or cage.

L'invention concerne un appareil et un procédé permettant de mesurer la charge statique développée par un solide coulable lors de son passage dans un conduit. Un solide coulable (par exemple, un catalyseur de métallocène) est transporté dans un conduit de sorte que la poudre développe une charge statique sous l'influence de l'effet triboélectrique qui se produit lors de son déplacement contre les paroi du conduit. La charge statique qui s'exerce sur le solide est ensuite mesurée au moyen d'un dispositif de mesure de charge statique, tel qu'un tambour ou une cage de Faraday.
