Apparatus for measurement of a temperature of a moving metal slab to provide a measured temperature indication corresponding to an actual temperature at a location on the surface of the slab. The apparatus comprises a first temperature measuring sensor mounted to move between a first position in which the first sensor is out of contact with a surface of the slab, and a second position in which the first sensor contacts the surface at the location, the first sensor generating an output corresponding to a detected temperature when the contact is made with the surface; a drive mechanism to move the sensor between the first and second positions of the first sensor; at least one additional temperature measuring sensor mounted adjacent to the first sensor to move between a first position in which the at least one additional sensor is out of contact with the surface of the slab, and a second position in which the at least one additional sensor contacts the surface at the location, the second sensor generating an output corresponding to a detected temperature when the contact is made with the surface; a drive mechanism to move the at least one additional sensor between the first and second positions of the at least one additional sensor; and a comparator for comparing the outputs of the temperature measuring sensors for determining whether or not the detected temperatures of the sensors at the location differ by less than a particular amount, and for providing a measured temperature indication representing the actual temperature of the surface at the location based on one or more of the outputs, only if the detected temperatures differ by less than the predetermined amount. The invention also relates to a corresponding method of measuring the surface temperature.
La présente invention se rapporte à un appareil permettant de mesurer la température d'une plaque métallique mobile de manière à fournir une indication sur la température mesurée correspondant à la température réelle d'une zone sur la surface de la plaque. L'appareil comprend un premier capteur de mesure thermique monté de manière à se déplacer entre une première position dans laquelle le premier capteur n'est pas en contact avec une surface de la plaque, et une seconde position dans laquelle le premier capteur est en contact avec la surface au niveau de ladite zone, le premier capteur produisant un signal correspondant à une température détectée lorsque qu'il y a contact avec la surface. Un mécanisme d'entraînement permet de déplacer le capteur entre les première et seconde positions du premier capteur. Au moins un capteur de mesure thermique supplémentaire est monté à proximité du premier capteur pour se déplacer entre une première position dans laquelle le capteur supplémentaire n'est pas en contact avec la surface de la plaque, et une seconde position dans laquelle il est en contact avec la surface au niveau de ladite zone, le second générateur produisant un signal correspondant à une température détectée lorsqu'il y a contact avec la surface. Un mécanisme d'entraînement permet de déplacer le capteur supplémentaire entre ses première et seconde positions et un comparateur permet de comparer les signaux de sortie des capteurs de mesure thermique afin de déterminer si les températures détectées par les capteurs au niveau de ladite zone sont inférieures à une valeur particulière, et de fournir une indication sur la mesure thermique représentant la température réelle de la surface au niveau de ladite zone, sur la base d'un ou de plusieurs signaux, seulement au cas où les températures détectées sont inférieures à la valeur prédéterminée. Cette invention se rapporte également à un procédé correspondant permettant de mesurer la température de la surface.
