APPARATUS AND METHOD FOR MULTIPLYING THE OUTPUT OF A GENERATING UNIT ABSTRACT OF THE INVENTION A power generating apparatus and method of operation for meeting a variable demand includes a compressor for sup- plying gas to a heat engine which generates power and a reser- voir positioned intermediate the compressor and heat engine. A portion of the power produced by the heat engine which may be operated at an average rate of demand, is utilized to compress gas which is directed to the reservoir. The com- pressed reservoir of gas is selectively directed to the heat engine to increase the generation of power to satisfy increased rates of demand.
