An apparatus and method are disclosed for the continuous formation of slurry. The apparatus includes a hopper to hold particulate material; one or more transport/mixing assemblies that mix and transport the solid material and a carrier liquid; and a mixing/averaging tank that receives the solid/liquid mixture from the transport/mixing assembly and performs a final mixing and averaging of the mixture to achieve a desired slurry consistency. An auger inside the tank continuously mixes the slurry and has one or more outlet ports to continuously discharge the slurry. The auger may be bi-directional, to direct the slurry towards dual outlets on opposing ends of the tank. Preferably, a reciprocating screen deck is provided to eliminate oversized particulates before the mixture enters the mixing/averaging tank. Carrier liquid is introduced at several points in the process, including into the transport/mixing assemblies, at the screen deck, and into the mixing/averaging tank. The transport mixing/assemblies may consist of an auger housed within a tubular housing, with rotation of the auger serving both to mix the solids and liquid and to transport the mixture through the assembly. The transport/mixing assemblies may alteratively consist of a stepwise array of auger stages with the respective auger housings interconnecting to permit material to be transported from one end of the assembly to the other. Alternatively, the assembly may employ a high-pressure jet of carrier liquid that both combines with the solid particulates and propels the mixture through a housing.
Un appareil et une méthode sont divulgués pour la formation de boue liquide en continu. L'appareil comprend une trémie contenant un matériau particulaire; un ou plusieurs ensembles transporteurs/mélangeurs, qui mélangent le matériau solide et un liquide tout en les transportant; et une citerne mélangeuse/homogénéisatrice dans laquelle est versé le mélange solide/liquide de la benne et qui en effectue le mélange final de façon à produire une bouillie de la consistance voulue. € l'intérieur de la citerne, une vis sans fin mélange continuellement la boue, laquelle est évacuée en continu par des ouvertures. L'appareil comporte, de préférence, un crible à secousses qui élimine les particules surdimensionnées avant que le mélange entre dans la citerne mélangeuse/homogénéisatrice. Le liquide porteur est introduit à différentes étapes du processus : dans les bennes transporteuses/mélangeuses, au passage dans le crible à secousses, et dans la citerne mélangeuse/homogénéisatrice. Les ensembles transporteurs/mélangeurs peuvent être constitués d'une vis sans fin dans un logement tubulaire, la rotation de ladite vis servant à la fois à mélanger les solides et le liquide et à entraîner la boue d'une extrémité à l'autre du tube. Les ensembles transporteurs/mélangeurs peuvent encore être constitués d'une série de vis sans fin contenues dans des logements communicants, qui entraînent la bouillie d'une extrémité à l'autre de l'ensemble. Ou encore, l'ensemble peut être traversé par un jet haute-pression de liquide porteur, qui se combine avec les particules solides et fait progresser le mélange à l'intérieur d'un logement.
