Disclosed is an apparatus for preparing variable density drilling muds. The invention is particularly useful in offshore operations where storage and transportation of consumable materials is an important economic issue. One version of the apparatus is a portable apparatus requiring minimal deck space that can be used as needed and then removed. The apparatus comprises a mixing chamber, a first and second feel line serving the mixing chamber, the feed lines having flow meters and control valves, wherein the flow meters are responsive to a non-intrusive sensory mechanism, such as magnetic flow meters, ultrasonic flow meters, and the like. The invention is particularly useful during offshore dynamic kill drilling.
L'invention concerne un appareil de préparation de boues de forage à densité variable. Cette invention est particulièrement utile dans des opérations offshore dans lesquelles le stockage et le transport de matières consommables est une question économique importante. Une version de l'appareil se présente sous la forme d'un appareil portable nécessitant une surface de pont réduite pouvant être utilisée lorsqu'elle est nécessaire, puis retirée.
