A method and apparatus for preventing unauthorized circumvention of blocking of television programs. The system of the present invention prevents an unauthorized person from circumventing the VChip blocking of a specific show or channel through tuning with the cable box. A controller monitors the vertical synchronization (VSyncs) of the video signal coming into the TV (102). If a video interrupt is identified by the controller without the TV sending an IR command to the cable box, the controller redials the cable box to the channel it was on before detecting the video interrupt. This hinders an unauthorized person from working around VChip blocking functions.
L'invention concerne un procédé et un dispositif destinés à empêcher le contournement non autorisé de la fonction de filtrage d'émissions de télévision. Le système selon la présente invention empêche une personne non autorisée de contourner la fonction de filtrage de la puce antiviolence (VChip) utilisée pour une émission ou une chaîne particulière, par un réglage du boîtier de raccordement. Une unité de commande surveille la synchronisation verticale (VSyncs) du signal vidéo reçu par le téléviseur (102). Si une interruption vidéo est détectée par l'unité de commande sans qu'une commande IR soit envoyée par le téléviseur au boîtier de raccordement, l'unité de commande règle de nouveau le boîtier de raccordement sur la chaîne qui était diffusée avant que l'interruption vidéo soit détectée. Ce système empêche une personne non autorisée de contourner la fonction de filtrage VChip.
