A method and apparatus for making color filters for liquid crystal display panels. A transfer layer is formed on a collector roll, and a raised patter corresponding to the desired black matrix pattern is formed on the transfer layer by an embossing means. A plurality of colored ink patterns is formed in the appropriate location within the boundaries formed by the raised pattern, thereby forming the multicolor image that will become the color filter. This multicolored image is then transferred to the substrate. Preferably, the multicolored ink pattern is deposited to a substrate while in a deformable state, flattened during the deposition process, and the deformed, more uniform shape of the printed cells is thereafter retained, preferably by curing during deposition to the substrate.
L'invention concerne un procédé et un appareil de fabrication de filtres colorés pour des panneaux de visualisation à cristaux liquides. On forme une couche de transfert sur une bobine collectrice et on forme sur la couche de transfert un motif en relief correspondant au motif voulu de la matrice noire au moyen de moyens d'estampage. On forme une pluralité de motifs en encre colorée dans les endroits appropriés à l'intérieur des limites formées par le motif en relief, de façon à obtenir une image en couleurs qui formera l'écran coloré. L'image en couleurs est alors transférée sur un substrat. De préférence, on dépose le motif en couleurs sur un substrat pendant qu'il est encore dans un état déformable, on l'aplatit pendant le processus de déposition et ensuite on maintient la forme déformée et plus uniforme des cellules imprimées, de préférence en les durcissant pendant qu'on les transfère sur le substrat.
