A method and apparatus for interfacing protocol application data frame operation requests with a data frame input/output device (10) having a buffer structure (14) containing data frames according to a buffer structure scheme, while maintaining isolation between the buffer structure (14) and the protocol applications (30, 32), including: receiving, with an interface, from a protocol application (30, 32) a data frame operation request for operation on a portion of an identified data frame within the buffer structure (14); linking, with the interface, the request to an appropriate data frame operation routine executing the request, in conjunction with the protocol application (30, 32), on the portion of the identified data frame without requiring that the protocol application (30, 32) have knowledge of the buffer structure scheme.
L'invention porte sur un procédé et un appareil d'interfaçage entre des demandes d'applications de protocoles d'opérations sur des trames de données, et un dispositif (10) d'E/S de trames de données, à structure tampon (14), contenant des trames de données conformes à un schéma de structure tampon tout en maintenant une séparation entre la structure tampon (14) et les applications de protocole (30, 32), et consistant: à recevoir d'une application de protocole (30, 32) via une interface une demande pour effectuer une opération sur une partie d'une trame de données identifiée à l'intérieur de la structure tampon (14); à relier à l'aide de l'interface ladite demande à une routine appropriée de la trame de données en association avec l'application du protocole (30, 32) sur la partie de la trame de données identifiée, et sans devoir requérir de l'application de protocole (30, 32) qu'elle ait connaissance du schéma de la structure tampon.
