A method and system for a programmable television services client device that enables a user to navigate to an individual television service and is coupled to a programmable television services server device is provided. The client device (16) comprises a memory for (40, 30) storing data. The client device also includes an interactive program guide contained in the memory (40) that displays program information received from the headend server device. The memory (43) of the client device stores configuration information for a plurality of initial guide arrangements. One of the initial guide arrangements is denotes in the configuration information by either the subscriber or the system operator at the headend as the selected guide for implementation at any given time. The client device also includes a processor (24) that responsive to the interactive program guide and the configuration information and causes the client device to display program information according to the selected guide arrangement.
Cette invention concerne une méthode et un système relatif à un dispositif client de services de télévision prgrammables qui permet à un utilisateur de naviguer dans un service de télévision individuel et qui est connecté à un dispositif serveur de services de télévisions programmables. Le dispositif client comporte une mémoire pour le stockage de données. Il est également assorti d'un guide de programmes interactif logé dans la mémoire qui affiche sur les programmes des informations reçues du dispositif serveur en tête de réseau. La mémoire du dispositif client stocke des informations de configuration pour une pluralité d'agencements initiaux du guide. Soit l'abonné, soit l'opérateur système en tête de réseau désigne à tout instant l'un de ces agencements initiaux dans les informations de configuration comme étant le guide sélectionné. Le dispositif client comporte également un processeur qui réagit au guide de programmes interactif et aux informations de configuration et qui fait s'afficher sur le dispositif client les informations relatives aux programmes conformément à la version de guide sélectionnée.
