Phosphine gas is generated by agitating a reaction mixture of a metal phosphide and water (16) with agitation air in a reaction pot (12) of a phosphine gas generator (10). The resulting phosprime gas is then diluted with dilution air to produce a fumigant phosphine gas which is directly delivered to a commodity for fumigation. The reaction pot (12) does not have any rotating means such as agitators, rotors, or stirrers (30). The generator provides on-site generation of phosphine gas in a rapid manner improving the fumigation efficiency for a commodity, such as grain, preferably contained within a storage structures, such as a grain silo. The generator has a built in deactivation system for the unused metal phosphide and phosphine gas.
Du gaz de phosphine est produit par agitation d'un mélange réactionnel d'un phosphure métallique et d'eau (16) avec de l'air d'agitation dans un réacteur (12) d'un générateur de gaz de phosphine (10). Le gaz de phosphine obtenu est ensuite dilué avec de l'air de dilution pour donner un gaz de phosphine fumigant qui est directement acheminé jusqu'à un produit à des fins de fumigation. Le réacteur (12) ne comporte aucun moyen rotatif comme par exemple des agitateurs, des rotors ou des malaxeurs (30). Le générateur assure la production sur place de gaz de phosphine d'une manière rapide permettant d'améliorer l'efficacité de fumigation d'un produit, par exemple une céréale, de préférence contenu à l'intérieur de structures de stockage, par exemple un silo à grains. Ce générateur comporte un système de désactivation intégré destiné au phosphure métallique et au gaz de phosphine inutilisés.
