An apparatus such as a television signal receiver (20) provides an emergency alert function. According to an exemplary embodiment, the television signal receiver includes a first tuner (23) for tuning a first channel when the television signal receiver is in an on mode. A second tuner (25) is provided for tuning a second channel when the television signal receiver is in the on mode and an off/standby mode. The second channel provides emergency alert signals capable of activating the emergency alert function.

L'invention concerne un appareil tel qu'un récepteur (20) de signaux de télévision comprenant une fonction d'alerte d'urgence. Selon un mode de réalisation, le récepteur de signaux de télévision comprend un premier syntoniseur (23) destiné à syntoniser un premier canal, lorsque le récepteur de signaux de télévision est en mode marche. Un second syntoniseur (25) est destiné à syntoniser un second canal, lorsque la récepteur de signaux de télévision est en mode marche et en mode arrêt/attente. Le second canal produit des signaux d'alertes d'urgence capables d'activer la fonction d'alerte d'urgence.
