A method and apparatus for reconstructing a ligament. In one preferred form of the invention, there is provided a graft ligament support block (100) which comprises a body (105), and a graft hole (110) and a transverse fixation pin hole (115) extending through the body (105), with both the graft hole (110) and the transverse fixation pin hole (115) preferably extending substantially perpendicular to the longitudinal axis of the body (120). And in one preferred form of the invention, the invention also comprises an installation tool (200). In one preferred method of use, a graft ligament (35) is looped through the graft hole (110) in the graft ligament support block (100), and the graft ligament support block (100) is mounted to the installation tool (200). Then the installation tool is used to advance the graft ligament support block (100) into the bone tunnel (20), with the two free ends of the looped graft ligament extending back out the bone tunnel (20).
L'invention concerne un procédé et un dispositif permettant la reconstruction d'un ligament. Dans une forme de réalisation préférée, le dispositif comprend un bloc de support de greffon ligamentaire comprenant un corps, un orifice destiné au greffon et un orifice destiné à une broche de fixation transversale, l'orifice pour le greffon et l'orifice pour la broche de fixation étant orientés de préférence dans une direction sensiblement perpendiculaire à l'axe longitudinal du corps. Dans une des formes de réalisation préférées, ce dispositif comprend en outre un instrument de mise en place permettant d'introduire le bloc de support de greffon dans le tunnel osseux et, tout en maintenant le bloc de support de greffon dans le tunnel osseux, de former un tunnel transversal dans l'os receveur, ce tunnel transversal étant aligné avec l'orifice destiné à la broche de fixation transversale du bloc de support de greffon. Dans un mode d'utilisation préféré, on enfile un greffon ligamentaire à travers l'orifice destiné au greffon du bloc de support de greffon de manière à former une boucle, et on monte le bloc de support sur l'instrument de mise en place. On utilise ensuite l'instrument de mise en place pour avancer le bloc de support de greffon dans le tunnel osseux, les deux extrémités libres de la boucle formée par le greffon étant dirigées vers l'arrière.
