Segmental edema is treated by inserting a plasma extraction filter device (12) in a major vein (11) of a body segment or servicing the body segment containing the edemic tissues, and inserting a return catheter (40) in a major artery (41) of the body segment affected or feeding the body segment from which plasma is extracted. Blood plasma and plasma proteins extracted from the edemic body segment through the plasma extraction filter are directed to an ultrafiltration apparatus (20) where plasma water is separated from the plasma proteins. Plasma proteins are returned to the body segment from which the plasma was extracted via the return catheter (40) in the major artery (41) of the subject body segment.

L'invention concerne un oedème segmentaire traité par insertion d'un dispositif filtrant (12) d'extraction de plasma dans une veine principale (11) d'un segment corporel ou alimentant le segment corporel contenant les tissus oedémiques, et par insertion d'un cathéter (49) de retour dans une artère principale (41) du segment corporel affecté ou par alimentation du segment corporel duquel est extrait le plasma.
