Abstract of the Invention "APPARATUS AND METHOD FOR SETTLING GRANULAR INSULATION" A method of settling granular material in a space, comprising feeding granular material into a space; positioning a vertical metal plate so that it is at least partially immerged in the granular material in the space; and vibrating the plate sufficiently long to cause the granular material to settle and occupy less volume than before being vibrated. Apparatus for settling a volume of granular material by vibration comprising a metal plate; a connector on the metal plate for suspending it vertically from wire ropes; and a vibrator attached to and capable of vibrating the metal plate.
