A channel spreading method in a CDMA communication system which spreads a pair of symbols obtained by repeating one symbol with a quasi-orthogonal code having a given length to transmit the spread symbols through a first antenna and spreads said symbol and an inverted symbol of said symbol with said quasi- orthogonal code to transmit the spread symbols through a second antenna. The method comprises spreading one of said pair of symbols with a portion of said quasi-orthogonal code and spreading another symbol of said pair of symbols with a remaining portion of said quasi-orthogonal code; and spreading said symbol with a portion of said quasi-orthogonal code and spreading said inverted symbol with the remaining portion of said quasi-orthogonal code.

Cette invention se rapporte à un procédé d'étalement de canal utilisé dans un système de communication CDMA, qui étale une paire de symboles obtenus par répétition d'un symbole avec un code quasi orthogonal ayant une longueur donnée, en vue de transmettre les symboles étalés à travers une première antenne, et qui étale ce symbole et un symbole inverse de ce symbole avec ledit code quasi orthogonal, en vue de transmettre les symboles étalés à travers une seconde antenne. Ce procédé consiste à étaler l'un de ces deux symboles avec une partie dudit code quasi orthogonal et à étaler l'autre de ces deux symboles avec une partie restante dudit code quasi orthogonal; et à étaler ce symbole avec une partie dudit code quasi orthogonal et à étaler le symbole inverse avec la partie restante dudit code quasi orthogonal.
