A UV phototherapy apparatus has a base unit containing a UVB arc lamp and an output port for delivery of UVB radiation within a predetermined range. A flexible, elongate optical guide is connected to the output port at one end and to a handpiece at the opposite end. The handpiece is arranged to convert the round beam from the optical guide into a predetermined straight-edged shape such as a rectangular beam, and has an exit aperture of corresponding shape for delivering the shaped beam to a target area of a patient. A beam isolating assembly in the optical path isolates UVB radiation in the predetermined range from the lamp output, so that at least 90 % of the radiation directed into the optical guide is in the predetermined range.
Cet appareil de photothérapie UV possède une base renfermant une lampe à arc UVB et un dispositif de sortie délivrant un rayonnement UVB à l'intérieur d'une plage prédéterminée. Un guide optique allongé et souple est raccordé à ce dispositif de sortie par l'une de ses extrémités tandis que l'autre est rattachée à un dispositif manuel. Ce dispositif manuel, qui est conçu pour transformer le faisceau rond en provenance du guide optique et lui donner une forme prédéfinie à bords droits, celle d'un faisceau rectangulaire par exemple, est pourvu d'une ouverture de sortie de forme correspondante, afin de diriger le faisceau mis en forme sur une région cible d'un patient. Un ensemble d'isolation de faisceau présent sur le trajet optique isole du rayonnement UVB dans une plage prédéterminée à partir de la sortie de la lampe, de sorte que 90 % au moins du rayonnement transporté par le guide optique se trouve dans la plage prédéterminée.
