A method of testing a telecommunications line by using the following method. Applying a first AC test signal to a communications line (7) by tone generator (23) having a first frequency and then measuring the response to the first test signal. Applying a second AC test signal to the same communications line (7) with a different frequency and measuring the response. Calculating one or more line parameters based on the two measured responses.

La présente invention concerne un procédé s'appliquant au test d'un système de télécommunications (7). Ce procédé consiste d'abord 1) à appliquer au système un premier signal de test en courant alternatif caractérisé par une première fréquence du signal, et à mesurer la réponse du système à ce premier signal de test. Le procédé consiste ensuite 2) à appliquer au système un second signal de test en courant alternatif caractérisé par une seconde fréquence du signal différente de la première fréquence du signal, et à mesurer la réponse du système à ce second signal de test. Le procédé consiste ensuite à calculer, à partir des réponses mesurées en 1) et en 2) un ou plusieurs paramètres du système.
