Apparatus and method for manufacture of DR (Double Rolled) steel strip in which a continuous annealing furnace is arranged for annealing of cold- reduced steel strip passing continuously through said furnace, and a rolling mill for cold-rolling of steel strip is arranged to receive in-line the output of annealed steel strip from said furnace. The mill has at least one roll stand having a pair of work rolls of which only one is driven externally. Rolling fluid, preferably free of mineral oil, is supplied to the strip being rolled in the rolling mill, and is removed from the strip prior to entry of the strip to downstream tension- applying means.
Appareil et méthode pour fabriquer un feuillard d'acier à double laminage en utilisant un four de recuit en continu pour recuit d'un feuillard d'acier réduit à froid qui passe en continu dans ledit four, et un laminoir pour laminer à froid le feuillard d'acier, le laminoir étant conçu pour recevoir en ligne le feuillard d'acier recuit qui sort dudit four. Le laminoir a au moins une cage équipée de deux cylindres lamineurs dont un seul est entraîné de l'extérieur. Un liquide de laminage, de préférence exempt d'huile minérale, est amené au feuillard qui passe dans le laminoir, et le feuillard en est débarrassé avant d'entrer dans le moyen d'application de tensions en aval.
