Apparatus and method for producing a radiopharmaceutical formulation utilize a radiation- shielding container (10) for receiving a vial having the non-radioactive components necessary to form a radiopharmaceutical formulation therein. A mixture of such non-radioactive components and a radioactive liquid added thereto is both heated and cooled using a thermoelectric element (94). The container (10) comprises a hollow outer shielding member (12) formed from a radiation shielding material and a vial holder (54) formed from a highly head conductive material received therewithin. The vial holder (54) includes a skirt portion (60) that defines a socket (76). The socket (76) is sized to receive in an intimate heat transmissive relationship a mounting projection (88) that is itself connected in thermally conductive contact with the thermoelectric element (94). Using the thermoelectric heating and cooling element (94), heat is both applied to and removed from the radioactive liquid and the non-radioactive components within the vial while the vial is held within the vial holder (54) within the radiation shielding container (12), thereby to produce a radiopharmaceutical formulation within the vial.
La présente invention concerne un dispositif et un procédé de préparation d'une formulation radiopharmaceutique comprenant l'utilisation d'un récipient à blindage anti-radiations (10) devant recevoir un flacon contenant les composants non radioactifs nécessaires à l'élaboration de la formulation radiopharmaceutique. Ces composants non radioactifs sont mélangés avec un liquide radioactif qui y est ajouté et le mélange est chauffé puis refroidi au moyen d'un élément thermoélectrique (94). Le récipient (10) comporte un élément de blindage extérieur creux (12) constitué d'une substance de blindage anti-radiations, ainsi qu'un support de flacon (54), en un matériau fortement thermoconducteur, placé à l'intérieur. Le support de flacon (54) comporte une jupe (60) formant une embase (76). L'embase (76) est dimensionnée pour recevoir, en un contact de transmission thermique étroit, un élément de montage (88) qui est lui-même en contact de conduction thermique avec l'élément thermoélectrique (94). Par l'utilisation de l'élément de chauffage et de refroidissement thermoélectrique (94), la chaleur peut être apportée au liquide radioactif et aux composants non radioactifs contenus dans le flacon, ou peut en être extraites, tant que ce flacon reste sur le support de flacon (54) dans le récipient à blindage anti-radiations (12), produisant de la sorte la formulation radiopharmaceutique à l'intérieur du flacon.
