A method and an apparatus for selectively transmitting ions produced by an inductively coupled plasma ionization technique is disclosed. Ions produced within the plasma source are provided to a FAIMS analyzer within a low pressure chamber of a mass spectrometer and in fluid communication with the plasma source for receiving ions therefrom. The ions are separated in FAIMS and at least some of the ions are provided to the mass spectrometer after separation.

L'invention concerne un procédé et un appareil destiné à la transmission sélective d'ions produits au moyen d'une technique d'ionisation de plasma couplée de manière inductive. Les ions produits dans la source de plasma sont placés dans un analyseur FAIMS à l'intérieur d'une chambre à basse pression d'un spectromètre de masse et en communication fluidique avec la source de plasma, afin de recevoir des ions de celle-ci. Les ions sont séparés dans le dispositif FAIMS et au moins certains d'entre eux sont placés dans le spectromètre de masse après leur séparation.
